Information:

The LEI was established by the Financial Stability Board as recommended by the G20. It is governed by the Legal Entity Identifier Regulatory Oversight Committee (LEI-ROC) and has been implemented by the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF).
It identifies legal entities participating in financial transactions. Each LEI contains information about an entity's ownership structure and thus answers the questions of 'who is who' and 'who owns whom'.
