Private Enterprise Numbers (PENs) were originally developed so that organizations (companies, individuals or other entities) that needed to identify themselves in Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Management Information Base (MIB) configurations could do so easily. PENs are also useful in any application or configuration language that needs OIDs to identify organizations (see IETF RFC 9371).
All assigned PENs (i.e. child OIDs) with organization names and contacts are listed at the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) web site.
Note: In accordance with RFC 9371, IANA does not assign identifiers to PENs, consequently identifiers cannot be entered in this OID repository.
This OID repository is NOT the official Registration Authority for private enterprise numbers. Thus, to get a child OID assigned, please use IANA's Private Enterprise Number (PEN) request template. Any change to the IANA register will be automatically applied to this OID repository.
Similarly, any modification to an existing child OID described in this OID repository has to be done with IANA via their PEN Modification template. Any change to the IANA register will be automatically applied to this OID repository.
