Information:

Description of organizations covered by the coding system: Organizations (legal persons, partnerships, sole proprietorships and their branch offices) registered in the business register and legal or natural persons not registered in the business register.
Notes on use of the code: The code is used to designate the owner of a Rec. ITU-T X.509 public key certificate in addition to the Distinguished Name (DN); the organization ID formed by the first 9 characters is inherited if a new certificate is issued. Thus, the code is used in applications using X.509 public key certificates. The code is also used for coding in EDIFACT and other Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) syntaxes according to Electronic Data Interchange Registration Authorities (EDIRA) recommendations and in applications connected to such EDI transmissions.
Additional comments: This code was originally issued to Zurich Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce however it was never used. The rights and obligations for the scheme were transferred to Swisskey Ltd.; the Swiss Chambers of commerce are shareholders of Swisskey Ltd.; Swisskey have been using the scheme since 1998.
